| we haven't come back to win 14:27 - Feb 2 with 690 views | positivity | when the opposition score first for ages, this is pretty well known. when did we last lose a game where we scored first at championship level? | |

could be, struggling to think of another one. of the last 14 games where we've scored first, we've won 14 times, the last one we failed to win is derby back in august (i think!)

for completion, the 11 games where we conceded first, we've come back to draw 5 times and lost 6 times.

would be nice, but an early couple of goals from us would be just as welcome for me!

| we haven't come back to win on 15:10 - Feb 2 with 406 views | BloomBlue | On 606 a few weeks ago there was a Southampton fan who claimed all three relegated teams (them, Town, Leicester) have a terrible record of not winning games after going behind this season, but excellent record for winning games where they take the lead. Admittedly he didn't provide actual figures but he said its a issue for all three | | | |

could be, which points to the confidence problem after a year of losing almost every week in the prem. given our respective positions in the league table, they must be a lot worse at getting that first goal!

Six sides are unbeaten when scoring first, including weekend opponent Preston. Confidence perhaps, but more so changes in our opposition's approach, I'd say. We've drawn 5 and lost 6 when conceding first, so we have experience of fighting back. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

It's a bit more mixed for the other two. They've won fewer games than us after scoring first, but they both (unlike us) have won games after conceding first: Result after scoring first: ITFC: W14 [87.5%] D2 [12.5%] L0 [0%] LCFC: W8 [57%] D4 [29%] L2 [14%] Soton: W9 [56%] D4 [24%] L3 [19%] Result after conceding first: ITFC: W0 [0%] D5 [45%] L6 [55%] LCFC: W2 [13%] D3 [20%] L10 [67%] Soton: W2 [18%] D3 [27%] L6 [55%] 0-0 results: ITFC: 2 LCFC: 1 Soton: 3 Games played: ITFC: 29 LCFC: 30 Soton: 30

Thanks for the info. Mixed as you say, but not great from any, especially if you add in all 3 have parachute money and in theory PL experienced players. While not convincing based on those figures, it does indicate similar trend and maybe a confidence issue.

Agreed. For some players, you can have the best record in the world or be amazing on paper, but if confidence is low, it ain't going to happen, until you catch a break and things start to click. Still, we're doing the best out of the three relegated/parachute teams without hitting top form once this season. I take heart in that. Expectations understandably have risen, but I'm not sure if fan expectations should be hitched to the relative "wealth" of a club.
