I'm rather hoping it isn't a marker for the standard of play as well. A mid table PL league team would have seen off Mexico, as for SA....!

I think you're going to be disappointed then. The new format means there's a lot more teams in the competition of poor quality. Meaning, there's much more likelihood of poor games.

F**k FIFA and Infantino. They are supposed to be bastions for the competition, instead, their only goal is to take in as many dollars as possible, rather than, protect the integrity of the tournament.

The first week or so of every world cup is always about the officials for the last several world cups. Thats been the cash since FiFA decided to use World Cups, in fact generally started their annual football rule innovation process, constantly tweaking and f££king around with the rules. Then you find officials from around the world have no clue how to officiate big games.

I think the word " bastions " was a typo :) Money, Money, Money, it's a rich man's world. Sure I've heard that somewhere before!
