This whole bring-the-players-over-to-clap-the-fans has become a weird, masochistic ritual, no good for anyone. I saw some people clapping Skuse and Chambers a bit (some were booing the players too) and then giving PL the full f u c k off treatment.
It only made sense when we were rebuilding the relationship between fans, manager and team. Now we’re just as dismal on the pitch it’s time is done.
We don’t want to get back in the habit of applauding a decent effort having lost a game — it just tanks our expectations and helped relegate us last season without a whimper . There should have been a lot more anger, not happy clappy renditions of Everything’s Gonna Be Alright. |  |
