Danish study on the UK variant 17:50 - Feb 24 with 467 viewsStokieBlue

Not much on this yet as it was just announced by the Danish health minister but a Danish study has apparently shown that contracting the B117 variant which caused the drive in cases from December onwards may mean up to a 60% higher chance of being hospitalised.

If that is confirmed and peer reviewed it could (amongst other things) explain the large numbers seen in the UK over the last few months.

Just another reason why it's so important that the vaccination programme has gone so well.

The Danes are worried about B117 after restrictions:

Camilla Holten Møller, of the Statens Serum Institute which is modelling the pandemic, said last month: “If we look at our models, this is the calm before the storm.”
