But aside from the cancelling of debt and Lambert finally going, the most important bit for me is the nature of his replacement. The fact that Paul Cook will be appointed seems to suggest that the new owner knows a bit about English football or is at least in contact with people that do. The risk with a lot of non-domestic owners is that they will try to appoint one of their mates or someone from their homeland with little knowledge of the English game. That's not to say that left-field appointments can't work, but we've seen recent examples of Leeds, Charlton and Leyton Orient where it was blatantly obvious that the owner didn't have a clue what he was doing when he changed the manager. Of course Cook won't be everyone's cup of tea, but he's been the favourite for every bottom half Championship/ top half League One job that has come up this season, so it's at least a logical appointment.
