I don't really agree, at least in the short term. If we were to get back in the Championship then yes, it's going to be an issue but in this league I think Evans will provide enough of a budget for Cook to compete. Cook has done it at other clubs who won't have the budget Evans provides here. We have a lot of expensive dead wood leaving and there should be plenty of room for Cook to wheel and deal. I also think Downes will go this summer. He didn't want to be here this season. I can't see us standing in his way again if a reasonable bid comes in.

I'm no fan of Evans but next season really isn't a worry for me. Cook will have the backing he needs.
