Tale of two halves and a missed opportunity 09:23 - Aug 18 with 263 viewsDarth_Koont

Feel sorry for Bonne – that was a whiff waiting for the ball to drop when he only needed the slightest connection. But score that and it would have cemented a fairly convincing first-half performance from the team.

But it clearly gave Cheltenham hope and they grew into the game / we shrank from it a little. Second half we showed flashes but had nothing like the pressure and it was us getting pinned back by mortar throws into the box.

One thing I sensed was that when we can get on the front foot and the team moves up the pitch our two deeper central midfielders can really dictate play and keep the pressure up. But squeeze up on us and they get isolated from the front 4 and we really struggle to keep the ball and particularly to get Edwards and Fraser involved who were the key to threatening Cheltenham and pushing them back. I’m hoping at least that a commanding CB partnership can free one of the CMs to push higher up the pitch.

We’re clearly still a work in progress and finding our feet as a team so no alarm bells yet. When we’re on the ball we look to have a high ceiling – it’s off the ball and avoiding errors we need to tighten up.
