Hladky 21:27 - Aug 28 with 976 viewssmfc1877

I would have added my thoughts to one of the old threads but I dont know how to do that. I'm a St Mirren fan and have been keeping up to date with how he has been doing so I thought I'd add my thoughts below:

Hes the best shot stopping and best overall goalie I have ever saw at St Mirren and by the sounds of things Salford fans think the same, hence why I'm keeping up with how he's doing. For whatever reason he's been poor this season for Ipswich.

I agree with lots of what's been said having saw all the goals he has conceded this season. He should have done better with the free kick last week and was unconvincing for the equaliser today.

I've also saw a lot of people say he's not commanding which surprises me as he was very commanding for us. Although, I disagree about the comments today saying he should have came out for the 2nd goal cross.

I've saw a lot of people on here talk about signing Siegrist. IMO Hladky is better than Siegrist having seen them play against each other a few times.

Like someone said on here, he hasnt became a bad goalie overnight. IMO, I think he may be struggling with the massive expectation levels and club that Ipswich are.

Good luck with the rest of the season.

To me he looks no better than David Cornell (released and I thought 2nd to Holy) and far worse than Tomas Holy (on bench) he takes up poor positions for set pieces and does not communicate with the defence. I get a nervous feeling every time the ball is near him. Does not come for crosses and seems to lose his angles frequently leaving gaps at either near of far post, he has made very few saves, a large percentage of shots on target have resulted in goals. Very poor kicking, most of his kicks out go to opposition players or out of play. Basically he is the worst keeper we have seen at Town for a considerable time. Looks well out of his depth at League 1 level.

One of the big things that stands out for me is his body language. He never looks confident or up for it, its almost like he's in a shell and would rather be anywhere else except on that pitch. I'm not just talking about when he's under pressure, even just when he's going to pick the ball up for a goal kick or when in possession and looking to pass to a defender. Been that way for weeks, is that his usual demeaner?

With Cornell, he was at St Mirren too as a young boy and was absolutely appalling for us and nowhere near Hladky's level and ended up getting punted after 6 months back to Swansea I think.

Regarding his body language, he was always quite calm and composed for us near the end of games when we were hanging on. One of his biggest strengths for us though were in one on ones he'd take up really good positions and save a lot of them due to his willingness to come off his line very quickly.

From what I've read I think its confidence as being up for it was never an issue for us. You just have to look at both play off games against dundee utd to see that.

Also, Hayden Coulson was with us in the same season as Hladky signed although they never played together as Coulson was punted in January before Hladky had signed and was terrible and seems like hes been pretty good for you.

I know you're looking at a new goalkeeper but when you signed him I thought he'd be the best goalie in League 1 and was a better signing that Peacock Farrell but that looks completely wrong now.
