Thoughts on the game and where we are 10:06 - Sep 12 with 388 viewsjasondozzell

We score goals. If there is something to cling onto, it’s that we look dangerous going forward and are not struggling to score. Bonne could quite easily have had a hat-trick. In Burns, Bonne, Aluko (who looked impressive yesterday), Piggot, Edwards we’ve got attacking players who will create and take chances. A world away from times last season where it could take 60 minutes to have an effort on goal.

I agree with Watson - it’s the midfield that’s the problem. I think Evans and Harper are both tidy footballers with a lot to offer, but they are not working as a two together. I know Cook wants them to sit and protect the CBs with the full backs pushing forward, but it leaves us without any presence in the middle or threat there. It’s rare to see either of them pushing into opposition half. We need someone who can get game by scruff of neck and dictate play. Feels as if somehow the whole season rests on Morsy being that player which is worrying.

Also where is the press? Evans and Harper get played around too easily.

At the moment If you are playing against us you just have to stop the wing play and there’s not much to worry about in the middle. Need someone to really claim that number 10 role.

There has been a lot of change and another new combination in the back five yesterday. It can’t be easy and it will take time to get a settled side. The worrying thing for me yesterday was Cook continuing with Harper and Evans when that seems to be a big part of the problem. If Carroll had been so good in training why not give him a go in there?

You can see we have good players. I think it will come good.

Celina and Morsy to come. If we can get a win at Lincoln it could change everyone’s perspective.

If Joe Royle is Sainsburys then Paul Cook is Happy Shopper.

Ade Akinbiyi couldn't hit a cows arse with a banjo...
Poll: As things stand, how confident are you we will get promoted this season?
