What exactly does he mean by this? Is he implying that he had minimal input into the players recruited? Is he saying they were not the players HE wanted?
He must certainly have approved of Walton, Morsy & Evans - all integral parts of his succcessful Wigan team at the very least? Chaplin too as part of his Portsmouth line up?

I think it relates to comments previously made by Mark Ashton. There seems to have been a lot of development in performance, analysis, sports science but I haven't heard of anything coming out about a recruitment team, which maybe Paul Cook was expecting. He certainly had a lot of input into the summer transfers as most of them were either people that he or Mark Ashton had worked with previously but part of the structure that should be in place is a team that can identify players from a wider pool than just who they've worked with before.
