Upcoming Ipswich Town plc AGM - voting intentions 07:33 - Jan 28 with 716 views | WeWereZombies | I've had the papers in the post and have been mulling this over for a few days, maybe should have voiced this opinion earlier but I didn't want to put a dampener on that good away win at AFC Womble'sden, and the apparent great work being done by Kieran McKenna and the Gamechanger 20 set up...but I am inclined to vote against the appointment of Mike O'Leary onto the Board. Nothing against the guy and not intended to be a snub to him or Gamechanger but, with the resignation of Lee O'Neill (again, nothing against the guy and at times he seemed like he was manfully covering three jobs) the plc is finally shot of the Marcus Evans influence. A few months ago I could have almost wanted some form of Evans representation on the Board, what with the insistence that the plc retained a role in the Club, but the involvement of Evans in a bid to buy Derby County makes me think he is just in it for the money. We have an opportunity to have a plc without any overt outside company influence going forward - whatever that is worth and it might be worth nothing. I want to use my vote to grab that opportunity. Thoughts?

Upcoming Ipswich Town plc AGM - voting intentions on 08:57 - Jan 28 with 607 views | Guthrum | Only speaking as an outside observer, I have no shares: But would it not make more sense to keep the link between club and PLC? It is a two-way street, not just passing information from them to you, but feedback in the other direction. That may not have worked under Evans and might be of limited effectiveness now, but it is another potential conduit to put views across, with actually some (albeit limited) leverage in terms of club ownership. Moreover, it is only one board member among five, influence rather than control.

Upcoming Ipswich Town plc AGM - voting intentions on 09:42 - Jan 28 with 553 views | ElephantintheRoom | I share your view and have long had much the same thought about Roger Finbow since the shareholders were excluded from the football club effective by the incompetence of the Sheepshanks board, for which Finbow has a huge and shameful responsibility. Whilst I have some sympathy with the view below about it being good to have the debt pedallers on board I think it’s a better idea to exclude profiteers from the plc and keep it as a reminder that Ipswich used to be a football club based in Ipswich After all it is really just a PR the exercise

I am not sure you do share my view, and I never mentioned Roger Finbow in my opening post. If anything my intention is to strengthen his and the other non-Gamechanger 20 directors. And also to weigh them down with more responsibility and pressure unfortunately. The power politics around Portman Road have three players: the Club, the plc and the Council. Of these three it is the plc that wields the least power and by a long chalk. However, should a situation arise where some input is needed from the plc I would prefer if that could be wielded for the benefit of long term supporters unencumbered by the providers of capital.

Sorry, cannot agree with that Guthers. I think the only power, limited though it may be, that the plc has is diluted by the presence of directors of other Ipswich Town Football Club entities. You could view it as the plc being a form of auditor or invigilator function to keep the Club on track and you can't expect reliable exam results if you give examinees the chance to mark their own papers for a career defining exam.
