Plus with the Russians being forced back east the Ukrainians could, given time, be able to make a Russian occupation of eastern Ukraine difficult to maintain.

Tho the Ukrainians probably do not have the strength to drive the Russians out altogether. Particularly from the Crimea, which is only accessible via a narrow corridor and contains a massive Russian naval base at Sevastopol.

You may be right, however a few weeks ago we didn’t think they could mount this kind intense fight in the face of the Russians, they’ve proved many of us wrong, they seem a very very capable fighting force.
