From the New Statesman. It argues that the Tories under Cameron and Osborne shielded enough voters from the effects of austerity to create an electoral coalition in 2015. This is completely different now - many pensioners and middle-income voters are feeling the pinch and the government seems to be doing very little to help them.
It goes without saying that I'd much prefer the economy to recover and for the government to protect the vulnerable, but given that that's pretty unlikely, it gives us hope they could at least be punished at the ballot box and somehow squander the favourable electoral map from 2019.
