More of the same.... on 08:32 - Sep 21 with 946 views | Steve_M | It's astoundingly just how unimaginative the Truss view of the world is isn't it? Next time she claims she's happy to be unpopular then she needs to be asked who with, because it isn't the Tory think tanks or Tory voters in the home counties. That would be genuinely brave politics.

Now there is a new plan. It will also change. I suspect this will be the theme of her time in Downing Street: supreme confidence attaching itself to objects of impermanence; an arrogance with power that styles itself as visionary while stumbling on the obstacles everyone could see coming; always a bold plan, never a mission accomplished."

So that's bankers bonuses (inflationary) and an inflationary stamp duty policy. It must just be poor people that are the problem with their demands.

As long as the growing underclass get enough crumbs from the banker's bonus then she and the Tory heartlands will feel she has done her job. The 'solution' to the cost of living fuel problems is the most shortsighted plan ever. Kick the can down the road and make the tax payer fund the solution themselves in a few year's time. All the while, mega rich fuel companies continue to make record profits. We simply never look beyond the short term and the next election,

In fairness the energy bill policy is largely in line with the entirety of Europe. As I pointed out the other day the EU windfall tax is <£5bn per country. If they hadn’t done this in the UK it would have been utterly ruinous. The difference being I would expect her to renounce any further windfall taxes going forwards. The rest - bankers bonuses and stamp duty cuts is clearly a waste of time with a negative economic impact to the treasury…still at least the national finances and public services are in good shape….
