The Positives 18:06 - Nov 12 with 1910 views | TalkingBlues | Humphreys slots straight into the team and looks very comfortable. Edwards looks class and will appear on the starting sheet a bit more often (please god). Camara is gaining fitness and should be a real asset in the coming months. We still have McKenna. We still dominate possession. We still create lots of chances. We are still in second place (albeit by fewer points now) We are still getting big crowds (thus generating revenue to allow for new players)

It was very frustrating not to win the game, but our few weaknesses have been on display for a while now and I have no doubt that the club will make very effort to address them in the January transfer window. I think it was frustrating for the right reasons (if that makes sense) we utterly dominated the game. The default mental position for fans prior to games now is that we are heading for 3 points and whatever the result, we do see entertaining football consistently. Every now and then the league likes to remind us that you don't always get what you want, or deserve in football, but it's sure better than what we were served over the last 15'ish years under ME.

When we've only won 5 out of 9 at home why would fans' default position be three points? I for one do not find dominating possession resulting in loads of pathetic "attempts" at goal and predictable corners entertaining, and when we have won, it's often with the benefit of the 70 minute subs against a tired opposition. Didn't work in 2 of the last 3 home games and we needed a poor back pass to win the other one.
The Positives on 22:17 - Nov 12 with 1526 views | Trequartista | I thought we were far too good for Cheltenham today - like a cup game against a side 2 divisions below. The final ball, which is often bemoaned as not being good enough, was very good too, some excellent crosses. The finishing was just woeful though. A poacher would have had a hat-trick today, but our achilles heel is having lots of forwards and no strikers. [Post edited 12 Nov 2022 22:17]

I agree, they were dreadful, we should've put them to bed in the first 30mins. Desperately disappointing and it is worrying our recently we've increasingly failed to put teams to bed. On reflection though, continues an unbeaten run, I'd rather have McKenna than pretty much anyone else, still showing we are better than all bar than a couple of teams, still second. Have to beat Exeter though. Need to start fast, put them to bed, not let them in. Fed up of teams like Cheltenham coming here and taking points.

I wasn't thinking of home games specifically, because I think we all know that our away record is better, baffling, but true. I have to remind myself after a game like this, that the weight of expectation we all set these days is probably too high, given the "newness" of our club and of course that expectation level we all set, is testament to the phenomenal turnaround McKenna has made in such a short space of time at the club, ably supported I might add, by a proper football man in Ashton and an owner/investor that is actually investing in the benefit of the clubs future, regardless of ownership. We've come a long way in a very short space of time, but there's still plenty of room for improvement and that gives me some comfort if I'm honest, because if we can achieve 2nd in the league whilst still a work in progress, imagine where we could be in the next 3 or 4 seasons when things start to click. I am looking forward to the January transfer window, because I believe it is very clear to the club and McKenna what is needed to push us over the line and I know 100% that they'll go balls out to secure it, something that I could never imagine under ME.

The expectation level is rightly high because probably for the first time ever we have a manager, thanks to the ownership, fortunate to have the most competitive resources on and off the pitch, compared to the competition, any Town manager has ever had. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

I do find it entertaining and developing these players in this way will have a higher ceiling individually and collectively but I take all your points. We are not developing an effective plan b, there is something wrong when 20-30 balls into the box are played and the goal keeper remains untested. I believe Pan Cam might be that different option from midfield. January seems a while away but with the injuries we have it is an opportunity to look at what we don’t have in the building to break these game down.

The Positives on 08:29 - Nov 13 with 954 views | BudapestByBlimp | I've got a strange mixture of thoroughly enjoying the game yesterday but extremely frustrated we couldn't score. Looking back though we came so close to scoring at least 5 yesterday; underside of bar, inside of post and the keeper made 2 top class saves from point blank range. Teams can't keep riding their luck against us when they have to defend so heavily. My concern is when teams come out and attack us they score so easily at the moment.
