Now we have got used to League one managers talking us up for their own devious reasons but this from Barnsley is on another level !

To be fair, that's not exactly what he said, he said best team in League One history based on the data.

Having seen the data this season around our attacking and defensive xG as well other stats he's probably right - he has the data to hand.

Realistically, but for a few deflections, refs decisions (against Barnsley for instance) and some fog we would be up already. Plymouth have hugely outperformed their baseline stats so good luck to them.

The other way one can look at this is that the xG related stats are useless.

SB - (not Simon Batford)

Yes I have some sympathy with that last sentence. xG certainly must not be elevated to the point where it's considered THE test of how good a team is. It has its place, but (a) it's only one part of the jigsaw, and (b) it's not even a fully objective measure.

I mean, we're playing great, and everything's rosy, crazy goal difference, approaching 100 points, it's all good. Certainly not complaining about any aspect of the team or its performance.

But having an xG that's higher than your goals scored just means that you didn't score as many as someone thought you should have.
