Decent innings but still too young. He was the epitome of the quiet thoughtful player who could cleave a defence apart with a single pass, and that he stood out in a team full of individualistic attention grabbers speaks volumes. I suspect he became first name on the team sheet until he moved to Arsenal towards the end of his career.

John Hollins was one of those people you didn’t notice but every good team needed. He was a proper utility player who played midfield but could and did play at the back.
