Football and mental health 15:24 - Nov 30 with 879 viewsChampionsofInnsbruck

I thought I’d try and break the negativity about songs with a bit about my experience last night. Last Friday I had a fairly significant operation that’s left me largely house bound, sore and a bit depressed. I’m making a good recovery and my other half allowed me to go out to the game last night. Not only was that first half superb to see but after getting out, watching the game and coming home my mood has been so much better! There’s a lot to be said about the release watching football can give a weighted mind. I feel so much better and hoping to attend Saturday.

As somebody who has suffered with MH issues, I can not second this enough.
There is nothing that comes close to watching your team - especially if they are on the up.

On a personal level, I hope you are on the mend now. Its really important to stay positive and to keep talking to people. Sometimes even just a simple chat about the most innocuous of topics can really help.

I've been lucky enough not to particularly suffer with mental health issues as such, but we all have days / weeks when things aren't going right at work / home / wherever.

And going to football is a great time to park all that to one side for a few hours and forget about it all and concentrate all your energy on something else.

Glad you enjoyed last night on a variety of levels.

Again today, a great break from normality and the pain. Another fantastic first half although I must admit I was scared we’d draw at about 85 and it was getting stressful!

What a team though. We’re lucky to be around while this team and manager have been assembled.
