Has anyone watched this week's Sky Bet Overlap with Gary Neville, Jamie Carragher, Ian Wright & Roy Keane?
Big debate on playing out from the back and how many goals are conceded from it in comparison to the gains it brings. I read a Gary Neville article that he thinks around 3 x more goals are gifted to the opposition than scored from opening up the pitch. Roy Keane ranting that in the recent Salford v MK Don's match the Don's still persisting with it 80 minutes in and 2-0 down!
Agree to a certain extent with what they're saying but they miss the element that McKenna has spoken about before. This is that people don't tend to keep track of the goals that are conceded when a team loses possession going long and the opposition then come back up field and score.
