The comments add no value at all. The images though are very powerful. I don’t know what it is about black and white photographs. Somehow I see a lot more when I look at them.

I think they're grasping for meaning from the images at a time when America was doing a lot of searching to define itself in new ways. Like a lot of early attempts, a bit hit-and-miss, trying a little too hard.

I think they're grasping for meaning from the images at a time when America was doing a lot of searching to define itself in new ways. Like a lot of early attempts, a bit hit-and-miss, trying a little too hard.


Although I suspect, given the mid~sixties date of the photographs, it was toward the end of Kerouac's life and he was a bit too deep into the drink to imbue the 'On The Road' inspiration for a commission he may have been glad to get.
