Caught this year's late but saw The Dead South in the bands at the end. Never Thought I liked blue grass until I heard "In hell i'll be in good company".
But below is the hootenanny I discovered, Dr John. Love this Song, Love Dr John. Best Hoot ever.

A great song about emigration. My parents themselves emigrated, and I was born in Canada, but unlike many other Scots, they never really settled (maybe it was the cold), and so came back to the UK. Indeed my parents initially settled in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan (further north than Regina where the Dead South are from) a place so cold that they couldn't bury the dead in the winter.
EDIT: the maximum temperature in Prince Albert on New Year's Day is Minus 17 degrees Centigrade (the average maximum day temperature for January), with a low tomorrow night of Minus 34.

To quote Randy Newman
'Saskatchewan an endless prairie Where the buffalo used to roam Only a man, half blind on whiskey Would choose to make this land his home'
