2 questions

On my facebook feed, I've been getting what may be 'propaganda' suggesting that there is greatly increased interest in the League of Ireland. True? I know that a Dublin derby was recently played in front of a capacity crowd at the national stadium, but was that just a bit of window-dressing? If there is increased interest, any reasons why? (I wonder if it's partly due to people losing interest in the PL and preferring 'real' football to the TV version. I think crowds in the lower leagues and particularly the National League(s) maybe support this.)

Also that there is some talk of an all-Ireland top league? Is that realistic? (Haven't UEFA always shut down any talk of the Dutch and Belgian leagues combining?)
