The Government is looking at introducing new laws to punish further those convicted criminals who refuse to attend sentencing hearings:

I appreciate the issue here, but aren't 'Contempt of Court' laws already in place to deal with this sort of thing?

It all feels a little bit perfomative and, in particular, the threat to place in solitary confinement those subject to Whole Life orders seems particularly heavy-handed.
