Anyone else been hacked? Seen on BBC that Tesco Clubcard has had "software issues", and there's been lots of articles about M&S and CO-op hacks. This week I had an email from Nectar offering me a service that messaged me if Nectar points are spent, I'm the only one who would spend them, but hey if a service is free why not. Within 24 hours I received a message to ask if I'd spent my Nectar points in Luton on that day. No I hadn't. Via their X DM service matter was resolved in about an hour; got my. Nectar points back and a new membership number. Have they been hacked or was it just me? The offer of message service quickly followed by the harvesting of my points makes me think it was them, and before they messaged me. But what if it's my device? Haven't used it for my bank account since. Stupidly responding to an obvious scam email, would that give access to my phone. Does an email contain a trace back to phone? The response was not polite or what they were wanting me to do. The scam email could well catch out many, it was from DVLA about my car tax DD. Apparently I had defaulted and my vehicle was no longer taxed and was going to be seized and crushed. As it happens I deal with DVLA almost daily, sometimes multiple times in one day, and their tax checker site is on my work favourites bar. The email looked "good" though and was duly forwarded to the national report line. How much in Nectar points? £60, I had actually meant to spend them recently but forgot, will now spend them when I next fuel up the car, today or tomorrow before heading to Leicester. | |
