She pulled out citing "burnout" at a late stage, when she was central to plans.
Having done some googling, I see it is now said she then had some surgery afterwards which I had not been aware of- which, I agree, puts a different light on it- though I don't know how significant the surgery was. [Post edited 17 Jul 20:50]

Yes. It's soo slow, error strewn the goal keeping is laughable. Commentators go wonderful goal when somebody hits it just to the right of the centre of the goal and goal keeper flaps. Literally every shot that goes in would be saved by a league 2 goal keeper. Defenders swinging legs at the ball and missing. Some of the worst shots especially for supposedly the best in Europe. This obsession with comparing women's sport with men's sport is ludicrous. The physical disparity makes it utterly irrelevant. Like comparing U10s with U15s.

Given women were banned from playing for 50 years, it could be said the equivalent standard would be 1960s mens football. Big boots, heavy balls, jumpers for goalposts, etc.

I have watched the women's game for a fair few years now and I would say that it has actually gone backwards in quality over the last two or three seasons. Certainly England at international level.
Don't agree with the goalkeeping though...it a lot better than how it used to be. | |

Why the comparison to the men's game? No women's match is going to be anywhere near the quality of League 2 but why does that matter? Women's football exists in its own right. If you go to a boys under-10 match you don't think ah that's rubbish compared to the adult team, you accept the limitations and take it for what it is. |  |
