In both 22/23 and 23/24 such a key part of our game was Morsy (or A N Other) was dripping deep from goal kicks and collecting the ball almost level with the back four and either turning a man to create space or spraying a ball out to a flank first time. So many attacks and progressions forward seemed to start from this move week in week out.
Understand why we wouldn’t try such a risky tactic in the PL, but is it something we’d look to do more of again next year? I haven’t seen much of it in pre season, unless it’s been there and I’ve missed it? Was a couple of glimpses of it yesterday from Taylor.

We did try it in the premier league and lost the ball at least five times I'd not more and conceded goals as a result. We then started kicking long and lost the ball just as many times. No Matusiwa holds a much higher line, has better control and turns and passes forward much quicker.
