Can't expect to get your top targets every time.
Everyone plays this merry dance every summer where we all say want to get our business done early. No one really does and everything gets left late, unless you're a side that doesn't really do business or just splashes loads of cash, e.g Wrexham.
It's been a crap summer for us but this is a bit of fun isn't it? Nabbing a decent player off the scum. Look forward to October 5th. |  |

Football clubs dont do a list in 1-10 order these days. They will have a list of names based on their data analysing, and you can bet Nunez was one of those names.
But he was in discussions with Norwich about extending his contract. It seems the owners had talked about letting him run his contract down, but in the hope they could persuade him to sign a new one eventually. I'm assuming he has made it clear he was never going to sign it and the owners have at this late stage now decided they will take the cash.
The fact he is coming here so quickly, you can bet Norwich didn't phone Ashton and offer him, that we had already spoken to his agent weeks ago and made it known we're interested if he doesn't sign a contract extension and wants to leave. |  | | |
