Furlong. Possibly the most sensible signing for a while 12:39 - Aug 28 with 1457 views | FrimleyBlue | Cover at fullback Will imagine he'll be happy being a bit part Has a very handy long throw which could help us late in games. A very astute signing imo Now for the norway lad. Another cm and a striker and we are done I would like another keeper but think we are set with Palmer. Also. Nunez. Big challenge for KM. His first non English speaking signing. [Post edited 28 Aug 12:42]

Possibly the most sensible signing for a while on 12:42 - Aug 28 with 1414 views | Blooos | Thing that worries me is if and hopefully we do get promoted again, were just going to have to replace all of these players again, McAteer, Akpom, Furlong, Nunez etc. Foreign scouting network seem to all have returned from their holidays early.

Part of the game tho really. Can't worry about the prem if we can't get back into it.

What does your last sentence mean? They’re all signings of championship players or ex championship players again. We will absolutly go nuclear if we get promoted again outside of a few but with what we saw last year anyway we will need to. [Post edited 28 Aug 12:57]

Dunno. According to nodge fans they claim he hasn't and refused to take any lessons too. Obv that may not be the case

Perhaps both bought in for their character as well as what they offer on the pitch? And as you say, won't be "demanding" to be nailed on starters.

I dont think we do. If we are to stick with right footed wingers on the right then we don't need an overlapping rb.

I guess with Pert being able to speak Spanish, it's not a huge communication problem. Just through living in the country for three years and hearing the language every day you'd pick up a basic understanding of the language. I guess he will have to now anyway as there isn't another Spanish speaker in the squad is there.
Furlong. Possibly the most sensible signing for a while on 12:56 - Aug 28 with 1110 views | _clive_baker_ | Would've thought Furlong would have his eyes on that right back position, and who can blame him when nobody has really got it nailed down as yet. Good versatility and experience, knows the league well. A prudent pickup and completes the defensive unit. 2 forwards needed, 1 out and out #9 being the priority, and a bit of X factor and unpredictability off the right IMO. Striker wise I really want us to go big on Ivanovic. I like McAteer on the right, he'll outwork teams for an hour and has good quality, but can't help thinking that Omari spark needs replacing to some degree. Maybe the young Norwegian could bring it. Jordan James would give us a lovely midfield quartet with Matusiwa, Cajuste & Nunez. Wonder if that's a bit much to do though and whether we might be done there, with Taylor as the 4th? Be interesting to see.

I think McAteer is a lot more than a pragmatic signing, gives us a lot more balance and wouldn't be surprised if we see a lot of him starting.

With finite squad places, Taylor is a decent 4th option. Although not sure where that leaves Humphreys

For the moment I would take this with a large pinch of salt. He's apparently not wanted to be a budgie player for at least a year. They are behaving like jilted (sister) lovers right now, and seem to be creating as much negativity as they can about him.
Furlong. Possibly the most sensible signing for a while on 13:20 - Aug 28 with 874 views | wischip | I remember watching that WBA 2 v Ipswich 0 game 2 years ago where our long unbeaten run came to an end. I have to concede WBA outclassed us on that occasion, we struggled to get anywhere near them. I just looked up who was in their line-up: Palmer, Furlong, Townsend & Kipre (with Sarmientio off the bench later). Looks like we were taking notes that day.

No player gets told they are starting when signing surely? As a player you presumably look at who's there and back your ability to get in the side?

From the little I’ve seen I’d take Humphrey over Taylor. He’s looked the more rounded player and definitely a higher ceiling. It’s a long season with a lot of games, he should be able to get decent game time and a step up from where he was playing in League One last season.

It seems to me like clubs realise that massive turnover on promotion to the prem league is almost essential. What we got wrong last season was recruiting a Champ dream team and hoping/assuming they'd be able to survive in the prem. We got a rude awakening didnt we!
