I just don't recognize so much of the team any more - just how on earth does KMcK get all these players to gel together as a team? We have some amazing individual talent in this squad, with really strong back up (and hopefully Walle Egeli yet to join) .
This is really going to make or break McKenna, hopefully the former. If he can get 3 pts v Derby and then we return after the break with a team that can play with that telepathy we saw in the double promotions then we'll be unstoppable. But it is a big challenge, and we can't allow a couple of months for it to come together. |  |

Try and play as many of players in their natural positions.
Our patterns of play comes with training etc. But if we can start with players playing what is natural to them it can help along the way. |  |

Different circumstances perhaps, and obviously not a straight comparison, but remember how long it took for them to get going? I'd add that McKenna is a superior coach to Martin so no reason not to feel cautiously optimistic.

The blend of last summer's recruits with the "old guard" hasn't been smooth from my perspective, and if progress remains static after 12 months then more time, same tactics & connections on the pitch, isn't the answer.
Compatible players & system is key, then new players can click pretty quickly. Burnley made over 20 signings last summer and hit 100 points after all. Nunez and Egeli would take us to 11, 10 if we exclude Jens, so McKenna has plenty of new faces to integrate and to provide those previously evasive answers, hopefully, but also a majority who know the training ground well. He's been dealt a good hand imo. | | | |
