McKenna achieved double promotion as his tactics were light years ahead of everyone and no one could work Ipswich out. We had players that believed in McKenna tactics whole heartedly. It wasn’t Paul Cook or his signings it was McKenna worked out how to win football matches and be the enforcer.
This super power has now been worked out. The opposition deploys a low block to stop our crosses and launch long direct counter attacks that we struggle to cope with or it wastes precious time for us to rebuild another pedestrian attack. We are only winning games with individual brilliance not by tactical flexibility. Think about the wins and those wonderful goals !
The players need varied and unreadable tactics , surprises in tempo so that the opposition is left guessing. We are so predictable!
