Bent to Chelsea?
Bent to Chelsea?

A number of Saturday's newspapers are linking former Town striker Darren Bent with a move to Chelsea. Yesterday, Charlton manager Alan Pardew said his club are willing to listen to offers for the England international.

Jose Mourinho is variously reported to have been quoted a fee of £25 million and £18 million, while the Addicks are reported to have told other clubs they will accept £15 million for the 22-year-old.

Another report claims that Spurs have made a £12 million-plus-player move for Bent. The player involved is reported to be defender Calum Davenport.

West Ham are also said to be keen, with £5 million in cash plus former Town loanee Marlon Harewood and Hayden Mullins on offer.

Town will receive 20% of any profit Charlton make on the £2.6 million they have paid the Blues for Bent, the initial fee of £2.5 million plus payments of £50,000 when the striker made his 20th and 40th appearances for the Addicks.

If a player swap is involved in a transfer, a cash valuation is made for the purposes of paying the tax due on the deal.

Meanwhile, Cork City chairman Brian Lennox and manager Damien Richardson were due to discuss Town's bid for midfielder George O'Callaghan on Friday afternoon.

The offer for the Irish midfielder - believed to be in the region of £50,000 - is one of three the Blues currently have on the table. Boss Jim Magilton expects to hear responses from the clubs involved after the weekend.
