Blues Beaten By Hammers in Behind Closed Doors Friendlies
Tuesday, 22nd Jul 2025 17:03

Town played two 60-minute behind-closed-doors friendlies with West Ham United at their Rush Green training ground this afternoon.

According to various West Ham sources, the Premier League side, who were at Portman Road on the final day of 2024/25, won the first game 1-0 courtesy of a late own goal, while Callum Marshall and Lucas Paqueta were on target as the East Londoners won the second 2-0.

No details of either line-up has emerged, as was the case with Town’s other behind-closed-doors game this summer, a 1-0 defeat to Peterborough United at Playford Road just over a fortnight ago in their first friendly of the summer.

The Blues are next in action against Aberdeen at Pittodrie on Friday evening.

IpswichT62OldBoy am getting excited too but also a little twitchy govern the gaps in the squad esp midfield and up top, and these pre season results are not helping. On top of that Brum tickets already sold out FFS

Portman terrorist. Preseason results are irrelevant. In 1980 under sir bobby, we didnt win a single preseason game, but finished 2nd in the lge.

A few backroom staff watching from the stand for that behind closed doors match today, as per the above picture.

blues1, absolutely. I presume Birmingham aren't pushing any panic buttons just yet as they were beaten by Burton at the weekend. Pre season is exactly that, time to stretch legs, get fully back up to speed and match fitness, and integrate new players.

Result not important, but two games and no goals add to a blank against the mighty Peterborough, it’s very very obvious we need TWO strikers in urgently. Preferably permanent additions to replace the permanent Delap. Hirst is good. But he’s so very injury prone. Need another couple to compete in the middle of the park as well. Four out. Just one in. Two and a half weeks to kick off.

I don't care about pre season it's happens what I'm annoyed about is the way this club treat loyal fans it's a utter disgrace I've been going to away matches for over 20 years hardly missed a game and to not be able to get a birmingham ticket becos of the glory hunters who have only been supporting town since league 1 promotion is a disgrace I've emailed the club to complain but won't get a reply they don't care about loyal fans

sorry mr Ashton your gone down in my estimation

hope the club realise aswell these fair weather fans won't hang round aswell when things go bad unlike me who's been to away matches for over 20 years when we have been poor but this is the way the loyal fans are treated well done Mr Ashton

Points needed to be reset/only 2024-5 onwards imo. It's like there was an unwritten reset in 2022-3 which means anyone out of the country, long term sick or who had another good reason for missing more than a few, is now at a huge disadvantage.

edmundo I've missed 1 away game in 18 years I think i deserve to get a ticket I've not just jumped on the bandwagon when we got new ownership i was their in the dark days in league 1 and during the terrible times under macarthy and poor ownership of evans unfortunately the club don't care about their loyal fans who go everywhere take time off work on long away nights

itfc2024, missed one away game in 18years? Jeez, not only do you deserve a ticket, it should be free! I think it might be worth your while contacting the club. They might be able to do something for you, if not this time, another time. If not, well at least you have the choice of voting with your feet. Any business, and we all know football is a business these days, should take great care in looking after it's customers, in particular the loyal ones. I'd say you are very overqualified in that department!
