Town's head of sports science Dave Williams says Gavin Williams, Richard Naylor and Fabian Wilnis are all on the mend. The Welshman has a pelvic problem, Naylor a toe injury and Wilnis a hamstring strain.

Williams told the club site that his namesake's course of injections are still ongoing: "Gavin is doing some work in the gym and improving and we will have another look at him next week to see if he needs another injection.

"Gavin says the injections are helping and is stepping up his work but we have to take it one day at a time. He's moving forward, though.

"Bam Bam has had another scan on his toe and the bone bruising is easing. He's progressing and so is Fabian."

Skipper Jason De Vos returned for the Wolves game after missing out for five weeks with a cracked metatarsal. Williams says the Canadian didn't suffer any recurrence of his previous problem: "Jason came through 90 minutes on Tuesday and, as you would expect, had some stiffness in his legs after being out for a month or so, but he's had no other ill effects.

"Jon Walters took a knock in that game but he should be fine for the weekend."

Saturday's opponents Southampton have a few injury worries of their own with Gareth Bale and Chris Baird concerns and Alexander Ostlund out for a while with an ankle problem. Former Blue Chris Makin has a hamstring injury, while Darren Powell is out with a pulled thigh muscle.
