Disappointed loan striker Franny Jeffers suspects he has a torn hamstring and will now return to Blackburn. The former England international, who scored his first Town goal at Hull earlier in the week, was starting his second game for the Blues, having made his debut as a sub against QPR a week ago.

Jeffers told the club site: “I was holding the ball up from Sodje down the line and felt it go.

"I knew it was quite bad and I think it's a tear. I'm gutted because I was enjoying my football here, but it looks like I will be going back to Blackburn."

Town's head of sports science Dave Williams says the striker will have a scan either here or back in Lancashire: "We will be talking to Blackburn to see whether they want us to scan Franny or whether he will go back there.

"He's obviously going to be out for some while but we will know more when he's had the scan."

Alex Bruce is expected to be fine for Tuesday's trip to Preston despite receiving a cut just above his eye in the second half.
