Currie to Move Today?

Derby County say they could complete the loan signing of Town midfielder Darren Currie later today. Currie watched the Rams in action against QPR at Pride Park last night.

No deal has yet been agreed with the Blues but Billy Davies's club are hopeful that everything should be completed this morning.

Currie, who was on loan at Coventry earlier in the season, has just returned from an unsuccessful trial with MLS side the LA Galaxy.

The 32-year-old, who is out of contract in the summer, joined the Blues for £250,000 in December 2004. Since then he has made 69 starts and 20 sub appearances for Town, scoring nine goals.

Meanwhile, former Blues striker David Johnson is to train with Burton Albion with a view to reviving his playing career with the Conference side.

Johnson watched the Brewers in action against Forest Green Rovers on Monday and manager Nigel Clough says the one-time England B international striker could join his squad: “He is coming to do a little bit of training with us and we will see how he feels.

"There is a possibility that he may come and join us. He wants to come and have a look and he wants to see how he feels about it. That's all there is to it at the moment. With someone of his quality, just turned 30 you can't afford to not take a look.

“He finished through injury about 14 months ago, an injury to his back and he has been and done all of his rehabilitation. I think he has done some training and feels he is too young not to have a go at playing again.

"He has undoubted quality, hopefully he has enjoyed watching the game and we will see how it goes in the next few days.”
