O'Callaghan Returns to Town

Midfielder George O'Callaghan is back at Portman Road having left loan club Brighton and Hove Albion. Earlier in the week, the Irishman spoke out against Seagulls chairman Dick Knight's slowness in sorting out his future.

O'Callaghan subsequently met with Knight and will now not be extending his stay at the Withdean Stadium and has returned to the Blues looking to win himself a first team place at Portman Road.

The 28-year-old's Town contract is up at the end of the season and has been tipped to leave the Blues either in January or the summer. Former club Cork City were reported to be keen on re-signing the one-time Port Vale midfielder, while there are also claims that Bohemians and Spanish clubs are interested.

Previously, Brighton chairman Knight had revealed that Town had agreed to further loan spells for O'Callaghan and Matt Richards in the new year, but the players were weighing up their options. Richards returned to the Blues last week at the end of his three-month spell and is in the squad for today's game at Coventry.

Meanwhile, former Town defender Georges Santos has joined Blue Square North side Alfreton Town having left Chesterfield earlier in the season.
