Wednesday One of Three After Sito

TWTD understand that Sheffield Wednesday are one of three Championship clubs interested in signing Town full-back Sito. The Spaniard looked set to leave the Blues during the January transfer window until he broke back into the side with some impressive performances over Christmas.

Sito is out of contract at the end of the season and prior to his recent spell in the side had been out of favour for around a year.

Town would almost certainly have allowed him to move on in January, however his recent resurgence could mean that the former Racing Club de Ferrol man gets a second chance with the Blues.

Sito is one of several players whose Town contracts are up at the end of the season. Senior stars Jason De Vos, Fabian Wilnis, George O'Callaghan and Sylvain Legwinski will see their deals come to an end in June, along with youngsters Michael Synnott, Ian Miller, Sammy Moore, Chris Casement and Dean Bowditch.

Contrary to reports elsewhere, out-of-favour full-back Dan Harding and central defender Richard Naylor have contracts which don't expire until June 2009.

Town could once again look to send players out on loan with Brighton already told they can keep Matt Richards and George O'Callaghan until the end of the season. Richards is weighing up his options with another club interested in signing him, while O'Callaghan subsequently fell out with Seagulls chairman Dick Knight and won't be returning to the Withdean.

As reported yesterday, a move back to Cork City or another Eircom League club might be put off to the summer due to the effects of FIFA's three-club rule, while QPR are believed to be monitoring O'Callaghan's situation.

Dean Bowditch is in his second month at Northampton and other younger players could also spend time on loan in the second half of the season. Midfielder Sammy Moore is believed to be interested in moving to Leeds, who have been tracking him during his loan spell at Brentford.

Blackpool manager Simon Grayson says he is yet to receive a bid for left midfielder Wes Hoolahan, one of the players most frequently linked with the Blues. Sheffield United are also believed to be interested in the 25-year-old Irishman.

Reports in the French press say Laurent Robert refused the offer of a trial with Town prior to agreeing to a spell with Derby County which starts tomorrow.

Town's reported interest in Sunderland's David Connolly is claimed to have gone as far as an enquiry, according to one of this morning's tabloids. The much-travelled frontman has 18 months left on his deal at the Stadium of Light and would command a fee approaching £1 million if the Blues are interested.

Sheffield United midfielder Alan Quinn is claimed to be another player the Blues have been eyeing. Crystal Palace and Sheffield Wednesday are also said to be interested in the 28-year-old Irish international.
