![]() Friday, 4th Jan 2008 12:30 Boss Jim Magilton has dismissed reports of Town interest in Sunderland striker David Connolly as media speculation. Earlier today, Black Cats boss Roy Keane confirmed that he had received an enquiry regarding the Irishman with the Blues widely believed to be the interested club. Magilton told the club site: "It's that time of the year for newspaper stories with the January transfer window opening. "It's just speculation and no more than that. I guess we will be linked with players through the month until we get the players we want in the building." Magilton says the club's initial bid for Plymouth's David Norris, believed to be £1 million rising to £1.5 million after top-ups, was a fair one: "We have done everything through the right channels and made what we considered a very good bid for the player. "We will consider what to do next, but we do not want to put all our eggs in one basket and have made a bid for another player." After chasing Norris since the summer, the Town boss is unlikely to leave matters there and we understand a second bid will be made in due course.
