Town have made an offer for Burnley striker Andy Gray, according to national newspaper reports this morning. Charlton Athletic are understood to have had a £1.3 million bid for the 30-year-old turned down with the Blues now making their move.

Jim Magilton is said to have made a cash-plus-player offer, although the identity of the member of the Town squad potentially moving to Turf Moor is not mentioned. Last season Matt Richards was understood to be interesting the Clarets and is available for transfer, so could be a candidate.

TWTD was first to report Town interest in Gray earlier this month. The Harrogate-born striker, capped once by Scotland, has 18 months left on his contract at Burnley.

The Blues feature quite heavily in today's papers with local reports claiming Magilton is set to make his fourth bid of the transfer window.

Another national tabloid claims the Blues will make an increased bid of £600,000 for Leicester's Gareth McAuley, with the Northern Ireland international apparently unhappy at the Walkers Stadium. The Blues' initial offer was refused last week.

If Jim Magilton fails to appear at tonight's FA Youth Cup tie then he may be at Clyde's Broadwood watching their Scottish Cup tie with Dundee United.

The Town manager is reported to be ready to make another trip to Scotland with a national broadsheet claiming that Terrors midfielder Barry Robson is the man interesting him.

Magilton recently watched Dundee United in action against Hearts with keeper Grzegorz Szamotulski believed to be the player he was watching. However, Robson scored a hat-trick in that game and, after Magilton denied interest in the Pole, TWTD speculated that Robson could have been the man the Town boss was eyeing.

Robson, 29, plays either on the left or in the centre of midfield and is tipped to leave Dundee United during the transfer window after an impressive first half of the season.
Previously with Rangers and Inverness Caledonian Thistle, Robson has been linked with Celtic, Hearts, Burnley and Wolves in recent months.

In August, the 5ft 11in tall midfield man won his first full Scotland cap, having previously played twice at B level. Born in Aberdeen, Robson is contracted until 2011 and is likely to command a seven-figure fee.

Meanwhile, according to reports in the South-West, Plymouth will open talks with David Norris this week with a view to extending the midfielder's stay at Home Park. Contrary to widespread reports, no new contract has yet been offered to the former Bolton and Boston man.

Town have made two bids for the 26-year-old and talks have continued between the clubs. Yesterday, national newspaper reports claimed that Norris would hand in a transfer request because Argyle are pricing him out of the market by holding out for a £2 million fee.
