Coventry City striker Leon Best has again been linked with a move to the Blues. According to one of this morning's papers, Town, who were previously linked with Best in January, are said to be vying with Nottingham Forest for the 21-year-old's signature.

Back in January, Forest were trying had bids of £650,000 and £1 million turned down, while then-Sky Blues boss Iain Dowie denied reports of an offer from Town.

Best started his career with Notts County's youth set-up but moved on to Southampton‘s academy and played and scored in the 2005 FA Youth Cup final in which Town beat the Saints over two legs.

During his time at St Mary's, the 6ft 1in tall striker had spells on loan at Queens Park Rangers, Sheffield Wednesday, Bournemouth and Yeovil. In July 2007 the Nottingham-born frontman moved to Coventry on a permanent basis for a tribunal set fee of £650,000, signing a contract until 2010.

Last season, Republic of Ireland U21 international Best scored nine goals in 34 starts and six substitute appearances for the Sky Blues.

Jim Magilton may see Best as an alternative to Shola Ameobi if the Blues' moves to sign the Newcastle man have, as it appears, failed.
