![]() Sunday, 22nd Jun 2008 10:44 A relatively quiet morning on the tabloid front for Town overall, although Scunthorpe's Martin Paterson once again being linked with the Blues. The Northern Irish international has been mentioned in connection with Town on a number of occasions in recent months. The 21-year-old was first linked with a move to Suffolk in March when Southampton were also said to be interested. The former Stoke player is close to completing a move to Burnley with the clubs having agreed a fee of £1.3 million plus add-ons for the Tunstall-born frontman. However, earlier in the week Town and Norwich City were claimed to be other clubs interested if the deal should fall through, a story which is repeated in this morning's papers. Paterson, who is contracted to Scunthorpe until 2009, scored twice against the Blues during Town's 3-2 victory over the Iron at Portman Road earlier in the season. Capped twice by Northern Ireland, Paterson joined Scunthorpe from Stoke last summer, having previously had a spell on loan at Grimsby Town. This season the 5ft 10in tall frontman has scored 14 goals in 37 starts and six sub appearances. Elsewhere, Town target Richard Wright is reported to wanted by former loan club Southampton, while former academy striker Charlie Sheringham has signed for Welling United in the Blue Square South.
