![]() Tuesday, 5th Aug 2008 16:51 Wolves may be set to renew their interest in Town target Ben Thatcher after Ian Harte turned down the offer of a short-term deal with Mick McCarthy's club. Thatcher, like Harte a left-back, has been on trial with both the Blues and Wolves this summer. McCarthy opted to offer Harte, who was linked with Town earlier in the summer, a month-to-month deal after his trial at Molineux but the former Republic of Ireland manager says the ex-Leeds man decided against the deal: "If he'd have come, I'd have been thrilled, but he hasn't, so be it. He wanted to stay, but it was only a short-term deal and it was up to him what he wanted to do.†Thatcher, who Town have been continuing to talk to regarding a move to Portman Road, spent much of last week with Wolves before Harte was offered his terms. Meanwhile, former Town loanee Simon Walton is close to a £500,000 move from QPR to Plymouth Argyle.
