Town are considering supporters' calls to have the North Stand renamed in honour of Sir Bobby Robson. This week's news of Robson's increasingly failing health led TWTD Message Boarders to start a petition asking for the tribute to the legendary manager.

The Blues' director of communications Terry Baxter said: "The club was delighted when Sir Bobby Robson agreed to the Galleria restaurant being renamed in his honour earlier this year.

"We know how proud he was and how pleased all supporters were to have the room named in this way.

"We are aware of the supporters' petition and understand the sentiment and will give due consideration to their request. At this time, as always, we are wishing Sir Bobby the very best.”

TWTD has a poll on the website to gauge support for the renaming, while an online petition has been posted by Andy Feasey, one of the instigators of the campaign, here.

On Thursday, Robson revealed that his latest battle with cancer, his fifth, will kill him "sooner rather than later”. Robson is currently suffering with lung cancer, having first been diagnosed with the disease in 1992 when he overcame bowel cancer. Three years later he had a mouth cancer and in May 2006 he underwent surgery when a tumour was found on his lung after a skiing accident.

Three months later Robson had surgery to remove a brain tumour which was revealed by tests after the former England boss was taken ill at the Blues' opening game of the 2006/07 season with Crystal Palace.
