Boss Jim Magilton says new signing Iván Campo's vast experience will be a great asset to the club. Magilton hopes Campo, who completed his move to the Blues on a two-year free transfer from Bolton earlier today, will be an influence on the club's youngsters.

Magilton told the club site: "Ivan has a wealth of experience having played at the highest level for many years and he can be a great asset for us.

"The young players at this club will really benefit from having him around the place."

Campo, 34 and 6ft 1in tall, started his career with a three-year spell at Deportivo Alavés prior to moving to Valencia in 1996. A season later he was with Real Mallorca, before he began five years at Real Madrid, which ended when he joined Bolton permanently in 2003 after a spell on loan.

During his time with Real, Campo was part of their side which won the Champions League in 1999/00. Capped four times by Spain, Campo was in their 1998 World Cup squad.

News that Campo, released by Bolton after a five-year spell at the end of last season, was at Portman Road for last Monday's pre-season game with West Ham first surfaced on the TWTD Message Board when he was spotted around the ground prior to kick off.

TWTD understands that Campo has been handed the number 22 shirt.
