Stoke Finally Make Walters Bid?
Stoke Finally Make Walters Bid?
Saturday, 30th Aug 2008 10:22

Stoke City are again reported to have made Town a bid for striker Jon Walters. The Potters are said to have offered the Blues £3 million for the ex-Chester frontman.

Yesterday Stoke message boards were rife with rumours that Walters was on his way with claims that a bid had been made, Town chief executive Derek Bowden having reiterated that no offer had been received earlier in the day.

Walters is understood to be keen to move back to the North-West closer to his family and has been tracked by Stoke all summer. The 24-year-old is believed to have unofficially requested a transfer, although has put nothing in writing.

If Stoke have made an offer for Walters and it is around the £3 million mark TWTD first reported to be Town's valuation of the Republic of Ireland B international, then the one-time Blackburn trainee could be on his way. West Brom and Wigan are also thought to be interested in last season's Town Player of the Year.

Town bought Walters from Chester City for £100,000 plus appearance top-ups in January 2007. The League Two side are entitled to 20% of the profit the Blues make on the frontman or midfielder.
