Rochdale boss Keith Hill was delighted with Jordan Rhodes's goalscoring debut as his side drew 2-2 at Rotherham. Rhodes opened the scoring in the first half with the Millers grabbing a last minute equaliser after Dale had been reduced to 10-men.

Hill said: "We are really encouraged by his performance. Jordan is a sniffer who scores goals there is no question about that.

"He had two opportunities in the first half, the keeper saved tremendously well from one and he scored the other. He led the line really well with a cleverness that is beyond his age.”

Rhodes's goal just before the break was a rebound after Will Buckley's shot had been saved. The Town striker, who is at Spotland for a month, was replaced in the 81st minute as Dale tried to hold on to their lead after striker Lee Thorpe had been red-carded only three minutes after coming on as a sub.

Elsewhere, Billy Clarke played the first 81 minutes but failed to score as Darlington defeated Port Vale 2-1 at home.

Dan Harding played the full 90 minutes as his Southend loan side beat Hereford 1-0 at Roots Hall, while Matt Richards played a full game for Brighton as the Seagulls drew 1-1 at Yeovil, with Nicky Forster on the scoresheet, despite having to play the last half hour with 10 men.

Chris Casement was an unused sub as Hamilton won 2-1 at Aberdeen. The central defender is still to make his first appearance for his loan club.

Ed Upson was left out of the Stevenage 16 which defeated Altrincham 3-0 at Broadhall Way.
