Town's U18s fell to their first defeat of the season on Saturday morning with a 2-1 reverse against Leicester City at Playford Road.

First team striker Pablo Couñago and reserves coach Chris Kiwomya were both in attendance to see Town start slowly and fall behind after just four minutes. Foxes midfielder Liam Vassey capitalised on some poor defending in the Town area before side-footing past Lewis Ward.

Three minutes later and Town had the perfect opportunity to equalise from the penalty spot. Reggie Lambe was brought down by Foxes keeper Ben Lewis but Paul Murphy saw his effort saved by the keeper. However, a re-take was ordered but Murphy again put the ball to the keeper's right and it was once again well-saved.

Vassey rattled the bar on 14 for the visitors after Ward hadn't got the desired distance on his punch.

Murphy missed another good chance soon after and Leicester again made Town pay as they doubled their lead on 22. A good low cross from the left resulted in Vassey flicking the ball through Ward's legs and into the net.

Town did pull a goal back just before half-time when Jack Ainsley scuffed his shot past the keeper after a good run and cross from Reggie Lambe on the right.

The Blues dominated the second half with Leicester playing on the counter-attack and Murphy, Ainsley and Clark all came close for Town but in the end, Leicester held on for all three points.

Town's U16s came from a goal down at half-time to beat their Leicester counterparts 2-1. Town's U18s and U16s travel to Chelsea next Saturday morning (11am kick-off).

U18s: Ward, Clemo, Dunbar, Hyam (Griffiths 75), Watson, Eastman, Murphy, Daniels, Ainsley, Murray (Clark 46) and Lambe (Cawley 67). Unused: Stensrud and Meekings.
