Boss Jim Magilton blamed poor finishing for his side dropping two points at home to Charlton Athletic. The Blues had countless opportunities to add to their 1-0 lead but failed to net and were made to pay when the Addicks scored a late equaliser.

Magilton said: "We had enough chances to win three games. If you don't take them, at 1-0, it's always pretty precarious.

"They have quality. If you are not going to take your chances you make sure you shut up shop.
"It was a poor goal. Overall, we had wonderful opportunities to win the game.

"It's two points dropped, for me, but performance-wise it's getting better for us. We've just got to kill teams off. It's driving me nuts."

Magilton says Pablo Couñago was in the right frame of mind to take the penalty shortly after coming off the bench: "Pablo was obviously very confident when he came on and wanted to take the penalty.

"He is very composed. It's a good save for the keeper. It was one of those nights for us."
Charlton manager Alan Pardew felt his keeper was at fault for Owen Garvan's goal: "We gifted them a goal which Nicky Weaver should've come for.

"I was disappointed in that because it was probably the only thing he had to do in the first half.

"I spoke to Weaves and said it wasn't good enough for a man of his calibre. When players get criticised you are looking for them to step up to the mantle and he was absolutely brilliant second half.

"Once we got the goal I did think you could see we looked a completely different side.

"We are a team in recovery. Although we are fighting and trying to find ourselves, we could've nicked it at the end. I think we need a win. There's no doubt about that.

"Ipswich came out and had a golden spell and should've got a second, but we came back into it and could've nicked it at the end."
