Birmingham's Gary McSheffrey is the latest player to be linked with a possible January move to the Blues. The 26-year-old has made only seven appearances for the Midlanders this season.

The ex-Coventry man is currently out with a knee injury and with Town looking to sign Argentinian Luciano Civelli from Club Banfield, a move for another player who generally operates at left wing would be a surprise, although McSheffrey also plays as a striker.

Born in Coventry, McSheffrey became the then youngest ever Premier League player in February 1999 when made his debut for his hometown club at the age of 16 years and 198 days. While with the Sky Blues he spent time with Luton, Stockport and Swedish side IK Brage.

McSheffrey has recently been linked with Saturday's opponents Crystal Palace, old side Coventry and Wigan Athletic, Latics boss Steve Bruce having taken him from Coventry to Birmingham for £4 million in August 2006. Weekend reports claimed Bruce was willing to pay £2 million for his former player.

Elsewhere, former Blue Jamie Clapham is set to sign a deal which will keep him with Notts County until the end of the season. The 33-year-old moved to Meadow Lane earlier in the season on a short-term deal.

Town will learn their FA Youth Cup fifth round opponents this evening when Southampton take on Watford at St Mary's. Town's fourth round tie against Crystal Palace is at Portman Road next Tuesday (KO 7pm).
