![]() Thursday, 15th Jan 2009 15:59 Former Fulham midfielder Lino Goncalves will join the Blues on a two-week trial on Monday. The 20-year-old left the Cottagers in the summer and is currently with the Glenn Hoddle Academy, where Town assistant manager John Gorman was until recently a coach. Born in Madeira, Goncalves grew up in London and joined the Fulham academy as a teenager, but left last summer. Newcastle and Sporting Lisbon were reportedly linked, before Goncalves joined the Glenn Hoddle Academy in the close season. Hoddle aims to give young players leaving professional clubs another chance to forge a career in the game at the Academy in Spain. Capped by Portugal at U17, U18 and U19 levels, Goncalves plays on either flank and is said to be a dead ball expert.
